COVID 19 REHABILITATION

We now know that Covid-19 is an inflammatory condition that can have lasting effects for upto months after infection affecting different organs called as “Long Covid”. The Covid Rehabilitation Programme is a comprehensive programme for those recovering at home (active positive cases and negative cases including hospital/ICU admissions post discharge). This covers customised nutrition, training, rehab and mental health support that can be availed at home.

Nutrition

Aspects that are kept in mind while planning the diet protocol are:

Training

Prolonged home stay may lead to reducing regular physical activity and hence drop in muscle mass. ICU patients suffer the most muscle loss. Once the patient is stable and the physician gives a clearance, exercise must be slowly encouraged as per tolerance. A specialised team will prescribe safe, simple, exercises after an evaluation. These may include, breathing/strengthening exercises, activities for balance and control, stretching or a combination of these to restore fitness. Athletes with Covid may need additional testing before they resume sporting activities.
